Week One Square Two: Double Crochet Stripes

Stitches you need to know

YO yarn over - bring your yarn over your hook from the back over the top to the front

CH chain - pull your yarn over through the loop on your hook.

DC double crochet (US sc - single crochet) - insert your hook into the stitch, yarn over and pull up a loop. Yarn over and pull through both loops on your hook.

17sts and 20 rows per 10x10cm square

 

The Pattern

Using your CC1, ch 26.

ROW 1: dc into 2nd ch from hook. 24 dc to end. Change to MC on your last YO. Turn your work. (25 sts)

ROW 2-30: ch 1, dc into top of last stitch from prev row. (25 sts per row)

You will cycle through your colours through CC1, MC, CC2 on repeat every 2 rows. You will have worked 30 rows, with 5 colour repeats by the end of the square. 

Fasten off and weave in your end.

Attach your yarn to any of the last row with you MC, dc into each st to the corner. (dc, ch, dc) into the corner st. Work 25-27 stitches down the side, approximately 5 stitches every 6-7 stitches. 

Finish with an invisible finish.
