Week One Square Four: Rib Stitch

Stitches you need to know

YO yarn over - bring your yarn over your hook from the back over the top to the front

CH chain - pull your yarn over through the loop on your hook.

DC double crochet (US sc - single crochet) - insert your hook into the stitch, yarn over and pull up a loop. Yarn over and pull through both loops on your hook.

BLO back loop only - insert your hook into only the back of the V you typically crochet into, rather than both parts.

Tension

17sts and 20 rows per 10x10cm square

 

The Pattern

Using your CC1, ch 26.

ROW 1: dc into 2nd ch from hook. 24 dc to end. Turn your work. (25 sts)

ROW 2-30 (BLO): ch 1, dc into the back loop only to end. (25 sts per row)

Fasten off and weave in your end.

Attach your yarn to any of the last row with your CC1, dc into each st to the corner. (dc, ch, dc) into the corner st. Work 25-27 stitches down the side, approximately 5 stitches every 6-7 stitches. 

Finish with an invisible finish.
