Week Two Square Eight: Wave Stitch

Stitches you need to know

YO yarn over - bring your yarn over your hook from the back over the top to the front

CH chain - pull your yarn over through the loop on your hook.

DC double crochet (US sc - single crochet) - insert your hook into the stitch, yarn over and pull up a loop. Yarn over and pull through both loops on your hook.

HTR half-treble crochet (US hdc half-double crochet) - yarn over, insert your hook into the stitch, yarn over and pull up a loop. Yarn over and pull through 2 loops on your hook twice.

TR treble crochet (US dc - double crochet) - yarn over, insert your hook into the stitch, yarn over and pull up a loop. Yarn over and pull through 2 loops on your hook twice.

DTR double-treble crochet (US tr - triple crochet) yarn over twice, insert your hook into the stitch, yarn over and pull up a loop. Yarn over and pull through 2 loops on your hook three times.

CH-SP chain space - the space formed by a chain.

TR2TOG treble crochet 2 together (US dc2tog - double crochet) yarn over, insert your hook into the stitch, yarn over and pull up a loop. Yarn over and pull through 2, insert your hook into the next st, yarn over, pull up a loop. Yarn over, pull through 2, twice.

Tension

16sts and 8rows per 10x10xm square

 

The Pattern

Using your MC, ch 25.

ROW 1:  dc in 2nd ch from hook. *htr, tr, 2 dtr, tr, htr, 2 dc, rep from * with only 1 dc at the end. Change to next colour on last YO.

ROW 2:ch 3 (does not count as a st), *tr2tog, tr, (2 tr) twice, tr, tr2tog, rep from * to end.

ROW 3-12: Rep row 2 until you have 15 rows.

ROW 13: ch 4 (counts as dtr), tr, htr, dc, *dc, htr, 2 tr2tog, htr, dc, rep from * twice, dc, htr, tr, dtr.

Fasten off and weave in your end.

Attach to any st in your last row, dc in each st to corner (dc ch, dc) into corner st, roughly place 25-27 sts down the edge. Make sure to crochet over carried yarns.

Finish with an invisible finish.
