Week Two Square Five: Moss Stitch

Stitches you need to know

YO yarn over - bring your yarn over your hook from the back over the top to the front

CH chain - pull your yarn over through the loop on your hook.

DC double crochet (US sc - single crochet) - insert your hook into the stitch, yarn over and pull up a loop. Yarn over and pull through both loops on your hook.

TR treble crochet (US dc - double crochet) - yarn over, insert your hook into the stitch, yarn over and pull up a loop. Yarn over and pull through 2 loops on your hook twice.

Tension

17sts and 16 rows per 10x10cm square

 

The Pattern

Using your CC2, ch 26.

ROW 1:  dc into 2nd ch from hook. *tr, dc, rep from * to end. Turn your work. (25 sts)

ROW 2: ch 3 (counts a tr), *dc, tr, rep from * to end. Turn your work. (25 sts)

ROW 3: ch 1, dc into top of last st from prev row, *tr, dc, rep from * to end. Turn your work.

ROW 4-23: Rep row 2-3 until you have 23 rows.

Fasten off and weave in your end.

Attach to any st in your last row, dc in each st to corner (dc ch, dc) into corner st, roughly place 25-27 sts down the edge. Make sure to crochet over carried yarns.

Finish with an invisible finish.
