Tension
20 rows by 18 sts across patt measures 10 cm.
Sizing
Off the back of your tension square, you can figure out how big to make the hat for your own measurements. Measure around the head and from the middle of the forehead to how far back you want the hat to sit, then add the width of the brim that you wish to have. Then you can figure out how many stitches you need.
eg to fit 50cm circumference, 20 x 5 = 200 rows and to fit 30cm length 18 x 3 = 54 sts + 1 ch.
Note
This pattern is worked flat in rows and then joined at the end to form the hat shape. Circumference will equal the number of rows.
Pattern Begins
Ch 51.
Rnd 1: dc into the second ch from st, dc in next 49 sts. (50 sts)
Rnd 2 (RS): Ch 1, dc into the BLO of each st. (50 sts)
Rep row 2 until you are happy with the length of the hat around your head, ending on a RS row.
Finishing up
With the WS facing, sl st the edges together. Weave the end through the sl st end, and pull together, sew over the end until secure.
Weave in your ends.
Make a pom pom with your left over yarn, and attach firmly to the top centre of the hat.
