Yarn

4-Ply-Weight Yarn in the colour of your choice. 720m.

For the example I used: 3 skeins of The Yarn Collective Fleurville 4 Ply.

Note: You can use whatever yarn you like, the colour used in the example is discontinued. The mottled effect comes from a hand-painted yarn.

Hooks & Notions

  • 4.5mm hook
  • Yarn needle
  • 3 inch Pom Pom Maker (or card)

Measurements

Approximately 30x120cm.

Abbreviations

This pattern uses UK terminology throughout, below you can see the US terms in brackets for easy translation.

  • ch: chain
  • tr: treble crochet (double crochet, dc)
  • tr2tog: treble crochet 2 together (double crochet 2 together, dc2tog)
  • sl st: slip stitch
  • rep: repeat

Tension

16 sts and 9 rows in tr to 10 x 10cm/4 x 4in using 4.5mm (US 7) crochet hook.

 

Scarf Begins

Pom poms

Before you begin, make 7 pom poms so you can make sure you don’t run out of yarn before you’ve made them.

 

Scarf

Using 4mm hook and your chosen yarn, ch 64.

ROW 1:  Tr in 4th ch from hook, 9 tr, *ch 2, tr into the same ch as the last tr, 9 tr, sk 2 ch, 10 tr, rep from * twice.

ROW 2:  Ch 3, tr2tog, 7 tr, (tr, ch 2, tr) into ch-sp. 9 tr, sk 2 st, 9 tr, (tr, ch 2, tr) in ch-sp, 9 tr, sk 2 sts, 9 tr, (tr, ch 2, tr) in ch-sp, 7 tr, tr2tog, tr in top of ch.

Repeat row 2 until you have reached your desired length.


Finishing

Attach a pom pom to each point - you will have 3 on the end and 4 on the starting end.
