Special Stitches

Reverse Double Crochet (Crab Stitch): You can get the RDC effect in two ways.

Option 1: work in the opposite direct to what is natural. Right handers will work clockwise, left handers will work anti-clockwise. Complete your doubles in the same way, but work backwards instead of forwards around the round.

Option 2: work in the normal direction, but between each stitch turn your hook a full 360º with your loop still on the hook. This will twist the loop and create a similar effect.

Pattern Begins

Using Ch 4, sl st into first ch to form a circle. You will work Rnd 1 into the middle of the circle.

Rnd 1: Ch 3 (counts as a tr throughout), 2 tr into circle. (ch 2, 3 tr) three times. Ch 2, join with sl st into top of 3 ch. Sl st into next 2 sts, sl st into ch-sp.

Rnd 2: Ch 3, 2 tr into corner ch-sp, ch 2, 3 tr into same ch-sp. (3 tr, 2 ch, 3 tr) in each ch-sp around. Sl st into top of 3 ch. Sl st into next 2 sts, sl st into ch-sp.

Rnd 3: Ch 3, 2 tr, ch 2, 3 tr in each sp to corner, (3 tr, 2 ch, 3 tr) in the corner-sp. *3 tr in each ch-sp, (3 tr, 2 ch, 3 tr) into corner ch-sp* repeat between *around, 3 tr in final side ch-sp. Sl st into next 2 sts, sl st into ch-sp.

Continue with Rnd 3 until you have 36 rounds.

Next Rnd: Ch 1, rdc in each st around, 3 rdc in each corner sp.

Fasten off and weave in your ends.
