Yarn

Super chunky weight yarn, 180m of two colours.

For the example I used: Paintbox Yarns Wool Mix Super Chunky.

  • 3x Pure Black
  • 3x Mustard Yellow

Hooks & Notions

  • 15mm hook
  • Yarn needle

Measurements

3m long by 30cm wide.

You can make the scarf longer by just keep going! To make it wider, add 3 chs per extra V st.

Abbreviations

This pattern uses UK terminology throughout, below you can see the US terms in brackets for easy translation.

  • Ch: Chain
  • tr: Treble Crochet (double crochet, dc)

Tension

2 v-sts by 3 rows =10x10cm.

Pattern Begins

Using 15mm hook, ch 19. (For wider scarf add 3ch per extra V st)

Rnd 1: tr into 4th ch from hook (this creates the first V-stitch). *Skip 2 ch, (tr, ch tr) into next st*. Repeat 4 times.  (6 V sts)

Rnd 2: Ch 4, tr into 4th ch from hook, *(tr, ch tr) into next ch-sp*. Repeat 4 times.  (6 V sts)

Repeat row 2 until scarf reached 2 metres long (or your desired length), changing colour every 4 rows of V sts.

Weave in your ends.

Finishing

To create the fringe, cut 15 lengths of each colour, and attach to each st by folding the length in half, pulling the loop through a st, and pull the ends through and tighten.
